Wadala East is a vibrant locality in the city of Mumbai. An active junction, Wadala Road lies on the Harbour Line of Mumbai's railway network. Earlier considered as a central suburb, this locality is now well within the city's limits. Wadala is bordered by Dadar on the West, Matunga on the Northwest and Sewri on the South. Positioned on the shores of Thane Creek, the Western areas of Wadala are covered by salt pans. MMRDA has planned to build a truck terminus on the Eastern border of the area that will enable a centralized facility for the transportation of goods by road. The area houses the world's largest IMAX dome theater that serves as a major recreational facility for the residents. Several ancient temples, churches and darghas lend the place a much needed sacred aura. Renowned schools and institutions like VJTI, UDCT, SIWS, Khalsa College etc are located in the vicinity thus upgrading the quality of life of the inhabitants. Reputed hospitals like Aditya JyotEye Hospital, BPT and the Ackworth Leprosy Hospital are positioned within close access of Wadala.
