Thane is a metropolitan city located in Maharashtra. It is also known as Thana and is situated in Salsette Island's north-eastern portion. Mumbai city is the immediate neighbour of Thane. The city is home to several beautiful lakes. It covers 147 square kilometres with a tropical monsoon climate with very high rainfall. Major employment hubs include the Vartak Nagar, Kolshet, Majiwada, and numerous other business parks.
